jay-syncro Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) I'm offering up my BF Vintage for trade, as I'd like to move to a slightly less imposing cab. I absolutely love this thing, but it's a bit over the top for my current needs. So much so, that my amp generally runs at about 20% at gigging volume! As we all know, Barefaced cabs are extremely light. This is no exception, and the very shallow depth make it a breeze to carry single handedly. It fits in the boot of my Golf on its side, meaning there's loads of room for other kit. I love the tone of the Vintage, so ideally I'd like to trade for a compact (or two!) but I'd consider other BF cabs too. thebassman Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Hi jay Perhaps i'm being a dumbass, but what's a BF Vintage? Are you talking the '69er based on the Ampeg 810? cheers thebassman
jay-syncro Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 Hi mate, It's a whacking great 2x15 that's designed to be used with all valve heads, in that it's the right width (24''?) and it has an old school vibe. That said, I use it with a MoMark head and it sounds awesome. I've never tried a cab without a tweeter before, but I'm now converted (and I've been known to slap when provoked). Jay
Merton Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Bloody hell, cracking cab, silly low price! Bargainous
Wooks79 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I love my vintage, think I'd be hard pressed to give it up. This is silly low priced, someone should snap it up if you are selling as well as trade?
jay-syncro Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 Thanks guys, agreed! I should of mentioned that it's also for sale.
Wooks79 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 If it was silver vintage cloth front I'd be tempted to get it for a 2nd one
jay-syncro Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 Are you not in to two-tone? Actually, I couldn't advise the use of two of these. You'd be in terrible peril.
andydye Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 if I can't find an obc115 to go under my Orange ad200b then one of these would be brutal!
jay-syncro Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 Buy this > paint it orange > attach ad200b > take over the world.
Guest MoJo Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Can it really be carried with one hand? What does it weigh? What are the dimensions please?
jay-syncro Posted January 25, 2014 Author Posted January 25, 2014 It can indeed. I wouldn't want to go any great distance carrying it with one hand, but as it has casters fitted, you don't need to. I seem to remember reading somewhere that it's around the 22kg mark, which seems about right. HxWxD - 1000x610x340.
Bassdriver Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014
Can it really be carried with one hand? What does it weigh? What are the dimensions please?
In a word, yes. I have a vintage T which has a tweeter so mine is slightly heavier than this. You look at it and see a 2x15 cab and expect it's going to be heavy. When you grab the handles on each side and lift the experience relative to that being expected is similar to lifting an empty medium sized book case. They are amazingly light and I can indeed carry mine with one hand, although the physical size of the cab makes it rather unwieldy to move in this way. It's also easy to move on the built in wheels. Just tilt it backwards and use the handle on the top to pull it along behind you. Good thing this one's in Margate otherwise I'd be straight round with cash to swap for it. Running two of these with my Trace V6 would be quite something. I'm still tempted though as I don't see many of these up for sale. Somebody please talk me out of it.
Bassdriver Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Jay, I don't suppose you want package it up and send it to Carlisle do you?

Norm Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Love my vintage & like wooks would not give it up without a fight. Running it with a TE v4 & it is gert beefo (Somerset speak for awesome). This is bargainous! & yes, it is light. So light, You can frighten your band mates by feigning anger & lifting it above your head & waving it at them hulk stylee, even scares drummers! To sum up, buy it, just buy it.

jay-syncro Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 It's definitely ''Gert beefo''! I don't really want to post it, mainly due to the agro of finding a box big enough, buy for those interested, it should cost around the £40 mark with insurance.
