JamesBass Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 So I've just bought myself an Ashdown CTM300 head, it has speakon connectors, but can these handle jack or not? I know that's probably the most ridiculous question ever but just wanted to know where I stand Quote
obbm Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 The manual is very confusing on this point. Have you tried pushing a jack into the centre of the Speakon to see if it fits? - with the amp turned off of course. Quote
dincz Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 From Ashdown's web site: Speaker Outputs Speakon/Jack Quote
obbm Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014
From Ashdown's web site: Speaker Outputs Speakon/Jack
... but the manual just talks of Speakons. Quote
Grissle Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Does it have a jack sized hole in the middle? Quote
sifi2112 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Possibly/probably a speakon jack combi type, ashdown superfly amp I used to have had this type of jack. I also have one on a cab I built .. like obbm said 'try plugging a jack in' with power off. Quote
JamesBass Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 The jack does fit the input, but as people have said, the manual only states about the speakon only? I may just buy a Speakon to jack lead and get more leads when I get a new cab Quote

clashcityrocker Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I got a speakon to jack adapter off eBay a while ago, very handy Quote
JamesBass Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 Cheers lads, mind is at ease now and also more knowledgable! Quote
xgsjx Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 If it's an actual Neutric Speakon, if it says Combo on it, then you can pop a 1/4 jack in it. Quote
Bill Fitzmaurice Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014
If it's an actual Neutric Speakon, if it says Combo on it, then you can pop a 1/4 jack in it.
You can tell by the color. Speakon 1/4" combination jacks are green. Quote

Alec Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Hopefully this gives full ID potential!
