winterfire666
this is an awesome idea I know its for guitar, but if they made a bass one i would be all over it. http://9gag.tv/v/2641?ref=fbp9 only $30 too :^) Edited January 22, 2014 by winterfire666
BassBus
Andy McKee does that without any help and with a lot more style. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ddn4MGaS3N4

winterfire666
no,i dont think so, i can see it bieng a creative tool, just like an ebow or thumb picks, used springly of course. you still need accurate left hand skills and precise right hand co-ordination Edited January 22, 2014 by winterfire666
Roger2611
The keyboard player would probably stab you if you turned up with one of those
winterfire666
ahhhh but that is my plan, replace the keyboard player with a $30 stick on gadget, everybody wins
xilddx
I'm sorry but there are many guitarists that can do that with their fingers. All it does it restrict the instrument instead of expanding it. It's got some uses I suppose. You could never do this on it, but then again not many people can. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRRaakNfRrQ Edited January 22, 2014 by xilddx
winterfire666
yeah but for that money its worth a play for those without the necessary skills to pull that off. very nice playin though.
rubis
Interesting idea, but I found the beagle video far more entertaining

Zenitram
I'm sure I've seen old stringed instruments (as in ones from the 18th century) in the Horniman Museum that used a similar technique to play the strings.

Marsy
I just wouldn't spend time practicing with that.. I'd rather be straight playing
Beer of the Bass
I wasn't very taken by it on acoustic, but on electric it reminded me of a Hohner Clavinet. That could be fun for certain kinds of part. It's not going to revolutionize the instrument, but it could be a fun thing to pull out for an overdub. The cathedral of death on the main floor with Blobby the Massive Crap Walrus in the middle, the incredible music room, the unusual ethnographic bit, it's all a bit mad. thisnameistaken
I imagine it's got potential to change your approach to what you're playing, so it might be a useful creative tool.
used sparingly of course.
But to use it 'sparingly' you will need a spare guitar because it is clearly quite massive and stupid.

Kiwi
If the tool was used with a MIDI pickup and convertor, it might result in more consistent tracking.
Count Bassy
I thought that the device had a distinct sound of its own. While the two "unassisted" guitarists posted where obviously very clever, they did not sound (to me) the same as the device. Whether you like the sound of the device is a different and personal matter! I can't see a great market for it myself, but I have no philosophical problem with it being out there as an option. Edited January 23, 2014 by Count Bassy
