I swear by my BBE Opto Stomp. A great soft knee optical comp. you can't tell it's on until you turn it off, then you notice the difference. Mine is one of the old yellow label ones. Apparently the new 'moustache' labelled ones just aren't quite the same.

Loved the old Trace SMX when I had that amp. Have used a TC Electronics Nova Dynamics for 3 years now as an 'always on' unit and wouldn't be without it. On the minus side, it's discontinued (but available 2nd hand), a bit big but has 2 channels, and 12v if you want it on a board.

I had one of the older style big box Whitefingers.

I liked it, but the box was huuuuuge and it needed its own PSU so I sold it. The newer version is considerably smaller, but again I think it still needs its own PSU. Certainly worth trying if you can live with that.
