Roland Rock Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 It's our drummer's 21st coming up and we wanted to get him something. Nothing too big, maybe up to £50, more likely less. We're happy to take the piss (metronomes, etc) or alternatively thought a nice percussion instrument might be nice (he's also a wannabe percussionist) Nice mug too http://www.cafepress.co.uk/mf/75704884/the-tempo-is_mugs?productId=769849827 Anyone any suggestions/websites that might be good? What do you call those sphere things surrounded in chain, like in this video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvHFuJX2Ock Quote

JTUK Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Yep..get him something sensible... If you are really stuck go for decent heads or sticks as they can always use these. A traps bag... ?? GAK were selling a good Pearl 38" bag which is strong and robust. Quote
Thanks, will see if any are within budget

Is that because he's so young, or just because he's a drummer? :-D Thanks folks. He's petty sorted for kit protection. If money were no object, I'd buy him a van so I wouldn't have to keep giving him bloody lifts :-D Edited January 23, 2014 by Roland Rock Quote

Westie9 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Our drummer has recently picked up a Cajon Box Drum. A novelty? Oh yes, but he loves it.... Quote

Zenitram Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Cabasas and shekeres are similar but not the same. The Gil Scott Heron clip featured a big ol' shekere. Quote

There's me hoping it would arrive on time for Wednesday's band practice :-D It's the first Cajon I've seen up close, but the quality seems good, and a carry case/rucksack is included, which is perfect, as he will need to get it home on the bus.
