Hi I would like to adjust my truss rod on my Mex P bass but it looks like I need a special tool as it looks like a normal Allen key wont fit and I don't want to try one in there and risk damaging the truss rod nut I think I may need a 3/16 wrench bit if some one could just confirm that is the right size please :) Thanks in advance

Head off down to B&Q. Buy a set of allen keys. They won't cost much. One of them will fit the truss. Handy for setting up the saddles on your bass too.

[/quote] Believe it or not I have a full set of keys but they are all metric and I think the truss rod is Imperial :(

Yup that's the fella.
Sorry for the previous short reply. I didn't read your post asking if the size before you edited it - just read the original version that was in my email notification :)

Noticed yesterday that Homebase do a wee metric/imperial twin set that would do the job. £4-5 if memory serves. Won't last a lifetime but should get you a good few setups (incl bridge saddles) out if it.

I got mine from That Ebay too for about 99p after I discovered that the Series 1 Status uses [s]primitive[/s] proper measurements.

The metric system is the devil's work, and worse still, is French

I'm the other way round, must have been the last generation to be taught Imperial units and not metric.

Just get one of these. It has all the right Allen key sizes for Fenders (including the elusive Bad Ass II adjustment Allen key size!). Perfect for the old gig bag too :-)

Resurrecting old thread because I had the same issue this morning with a MIM Fender Player Jazz truss rod.

I found a spanner in my bike toolbox that fitted really well. It's a T30 Torx (in Imperial, that's 7/32" but the tip is graduated so it gave n excellent grip).
