AsterL
So I've been watching a few Orange product videos, and I've seen that the Thunderverb Guitar amp can double as bass amp and that the PPC412 HP8 Cab is advertised as being able to be used for bass. Is there anyone out there that uses this combo for bass, or has heard it in the flesh? Can any of their other guitar cabs be used for bass? I'd be more inclined to buy one of their guitar cab more than thier bass cabs, mainly because I prefer the tan cloth to the black cloth of their bass cabs
0175westwood29
i would say thats a bad idea, the thunderverb 200 can do duel duty because its got big enough transformers in it, the bass frequencies will still mess up and destroy a guitar cab, also there guitar cabs wnt take the wattage the bass ones can. andy
xgsjx
There's some on here that say Orange bass cabs are just guitar cabs in disguise.
Guest bassman7755
Guitar cabs generally have low excursion drivers and will start farting out badly with bass at a fraction of their rated power.
Bill Fitzmaurice
There's some on here that say Orange bass cabs are just guitar cabs in disguise.
Not really, as they do use bass drivers. But the bass drivers they use, Eminence Beta 10 and Kappa 15 for instance, are hardly state of the art, and are way out of line with the price paid for the cabs. As to the OP question, it will take at least two guitar cabs to deliver the same midbass output as one bass cab, and you lose the bottom octave entirely.
