odysseus
I've been playing for years, but never really bothered with much in the way of effects, so as a result I know sod all about them. What I need is a pedal that will give me a bit more volume when I stamp on it, then back to normal when I stamp on it again - I don't want one of those car-accelerator type pedals were I gotta fart around trying to get it exactly where it was before. What do I need to get? Any advice gratefully received Cheers Rob
GazWills
I don't think you could go wrong with an mxr micro amp.
Truckstop
You are describing the function of a clean boost pedal. I used to use a Mr. Zinky Master Blaster. I think most pedal manufacturers make one. Truckstop
elephantgrey
An EQ pedal might be a help, most give you a volume control, but also let you boost or cut frequencies a little to help you stand out a little more in the mix.
odysseus
OK, thanks for your input. I will investigate
sk8
TC spark or mini booster Wren and Cuff Phat Phut B is very good if you want an edge on your boost
discreet
Markbass Super Booster - you get a clean boost AND the legendary VPF and VLE filters. Yum. It also has a DI out for extra flexibility. iamtheelvy
MXR Micro Amp is great for simply boosting the signal. One volume knob, that's it. Of course, if you want any options, it does not supply...
ratman
If you want eq and volume boost options, I'd look at a bass eq pedal.
Guinness21
I know a lot of people think highly of the W&C phat phuk. I have a tc electronics mini spark and it's great! The primetime switching aspect to it is pretty special too - very happy with this pedal

Roland Rock
+1 for Markbass Super Booster. It's a great pedal, and will do exactly what you need, and the DI is high quality too. They are quite large though, if that's a consideration Edited February 4, 2014 by Roland Rock
Bolo
Marbass superbooster does it. However I get a slightly glassy edge to my tone when just using the boost. It's not very prominent and helps lift you up in the bandmix, doesn't bother me much but it could be a thing. Also they are discontinued, so secondhand or old shop supply is your only bet to get one. Lastly, they run on 12v instead of the generic 9v. I can rate it as a simple clean boost, and separate easy Tone control (has a second footswitch for this) Edited February 8, 2014 by Bolo

[/quote] This is true - it comes with its own 12V power supply. However, I installed one in my 9V system and it ran just fine.
Lozz196
Graphic eq - keep all sliders for frequencies flat, just boost the volume. Or you can add some mids for added girth as well as volume as well. Re Markbass - they`re doing a graphic/booster, and a graphic/distortion pedal as well as the Super Booster. odysseus
I now have an EQ pedal courtesy of Ratman. I'm fiddling around with it even as we speak. :-)
0175westwood29
just as a bit of advice would you guys put a boost pedal in the loop? so it avoids the pre amp? unless you wanted to add a bit more gain to add more grit andy
