Finbar Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Very interested in this too. If it can dirty up my tone anything like the AGRO did, I'll be in there like a shot. Quote

Finbar Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Read that the other day - convincing review, but until I hear it through my own amp with my own ears, I won't spend a penny on it! Aguilar wouldn't put a bad review on their site But yes, I concur! Quote
Kev Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 bass merchant are gunna have em in stock end of next week Quote
Toasted Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 What do you hope to get from the Tone Hammer? Quote

NJE Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Was flicking through a mag the other day and saw an advert for one of these, looks really interesting and i quite fancy one. Keep us updated as to when they arrive in the country, and if anyone gets one please write a review, would be great to hear a non biased opinion. Quote
Kev Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 just debating whether or not to put down a £30 deposit or not, gotta make sure i can afford it first! Quote
dannybuoy Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 I'm going down the road of preamp pedals used in conjunction with a power amp / cab combination. I rarely get to take my own amp along to gigs (so I'm selling it), a setup like this lets you take your sound with you wherever you go. I have the VT Bass now, but I get the depressing/exhilarating feeling that I am now going to buy the Tone Hammer as well, and any other preamp that comes out and gets hyped to buggery! Quote
Finbar Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 That did cross my mind, but I think I'm just going to try and use it as an epic dirt channel. Because the Agro is epic. But I'm not sure how it'll sound, which is why I'm waiting on clips ;p Quote
OutToPlayJazz Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Remember that outboard preamps only make a big difference to passive basses. It's only going to overpower an active bass. On the plus side though, my Sadowsky made a massive difference to my Marcus Miller jazz. Running the bass passive through the Sadowsky was ten times better than the internal preamp. I'd hope that the Aguilar does the same kind of excellent job! Quote
