BigRedX Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) If you are going to make a 1-string bass then at least do it properly: Edited January 30, 2014 by BigRedX Quote
discreet Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Er... Wouldn't a one-string bass be harder to play? Quote
Yes it is if you try and duplicate what you would normally do on a bass with the traditional number of strings and it makes you look a lot more busy in your playing (if if you aren't). paul_5 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Best cure for being a busy bassist? Learn guitar, there's *thousands* of those... Quote
That is true, but they are not necessarily as accessible as with a four-string, for example. Unless you've got exceptionally big hands, that is. Quote

Why the poster? - presumably some dullard thought it was funny. Why the 1-string basses? - because they can. I really like my 1-string bass, as it really makes me focus on the notes that count. Quote
Well, it is funny, but why on earth would anyone be that interested...or at least, I wouldn't. I'd go and do something else. I don't need those confines to make it work... It would be a gimmick at best.. IMV... Now, give one to the Gtr...that IS an idea..!! Quote
discreet Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I don't know, I'd like to have a go on a proper one-string, or even two-string bass. I'm guessing there are few places one can go to try out such a beast, though. And I wouldn't fancy playing one live - I prefer to keep my bulges hidden. Quote
JTUK Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I feel naked without 5 strings, ..or even MY basses, There is so much that would come to me that I need to be comfortable to be able to just do it. It just wouldn't be interesting to have any imposed straight-jackets in my world.. Quote
