Interestingly, 'Speedy Harris' from Hi-On Maiden uses exactly the same right hand technique as Steve

Having seen both Maiden and their tribute cousins live, I can honestly say that Speedy has got Steve's sound nailed. Must be that technique.

After seeing the man himself fairly close up last night I can confirm he uses two fingers and his fingernails (the latter quite alot... and the former even more ) but i saw no evidence of chalk

I reckon its stimulants i think a lot of fast bass players took or take things to help,i have a DVD of level 42 in 84 at the rock palast and king is off his tits while being interviewed.
