karlfer Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 (edited) I had one of the FSR Sea Foam PJ's from 2012. Excellent bass, but sold it, erm, twice. Just not an active sort of bloke. Now they have brought a passive FSR P/J out, in Sea Foam Pearl or Black gloss . The details don't seem to be accurate from Fender, apparently jazz nut and Bad ***11 bridge, not what is stated in the tech spec from Fender . No doubt everybody else saw these months ago and I missed it, so any comments would be appreciated. I know the Sea Foam I had was superbly made. Cheers, Karl Fender Deluxe PJ Bass Sea Foam Pearl Edited February 1, 2014 by karlfer Quote

White Cloud Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Now that looks like a great P bass.....and an excellent price. Quote
Bassman Sam Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 The advert says it is 10kg, I hope that's a typo. Quote
Delberthot Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Looks exactly like mine but passive and different bridge. I'm glad they changed the bridge, that was the only thing I hated about it. I've got a Gotoh 201 on mine now Quote

karlfer Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 Cheers Andy, even I can figure that one Oh, and also available in Quote
AndyTravis Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 http://instagram.com/p/jtYrOVOQXF/ I think the surf green needs a black pickguard - but the black one is beautiful. My only criticism is that it'd look cooler with the 'TV' 70's logo such as the Nate Mendel on the headstock - with the bold blocks and binding the modern silver logo looks a bit anaemic. But, they play well, sound good etc. They don't come with any type of bag or case though, which is a bit stingey I thought. Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 The green one looks cool. How much do they retail for roughly? Quote
Lozz196 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 The link in Karls original post shows £683 which for a Precision with P/J pickups, and maple fretboard with blocks is I`m sure going to entice a lot of people to part with their cash. I hope I`m sensible enough to resist. Quote

Mr Fretbuzz Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I've got some GAS for the surf green. Might pull the trigger soon :-) Quote

I'm pretty sure Thomann and SoundsLive are the only shops that have them. Quote

karlfer Posted June 10, 2014 Author Posted June 10, 2014 Forgot about this thread. I've had one since mid Feb. Excellent P/J with jazz neck, quite light, easy to work on with headstock trussrod access and BadA** bridge. Nice noiseless jazz pup, well balanced with the P. Compared to my 2000 US Hot Rod, the pick ups are a little quieter. But my amp has a gain and volume control . In my opinion a well made and thought out gigging bass. Especially with a custom tort plate Quote

Apparently Fender decided whilst they were at it they might as well make another 100 of each for the rest of the world. DO NOT take this as anything more than anecdotal By the way, last week, Promenade Music in Morecambe still had one of the original Sea Foam Green ACTIVE version of this bass in stock. That is the 2012 ACTIVE version which was definitely made in greater numbers. Just in case anybody was looking. Quote
Lozz196 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I tried one of these at the London Bass Guitar Show. If it had had a Precision neck I would have bought it, but a Jazz neck for a gigging bass is too small for me. Quote

My google search revealed 3 sellers and one of them had one in stock. The other said it was possible to order.. Might be worth a bell if you are after one :-) Quote
