gypsyjazzer Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Has anybody played an EUB (Or even a BG) through a portable battery amp and been happy getting a fairly reasonable sound? What amps have you tried? Quote
Len_derby Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I've got a Roland Micro-cube, which will run on 6 AA batteries. I've used it a few times for outdoor jobs playing bass guitar and it's done the job acceptably well. I don't know where you live, but you are very welcome to come and try mine. Quote
oggiesnr Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 There seem to be three standards - Roland Bass Cube - 6 AA batteries, buy cheap ones (Panasonic) they do the job and work out cheaper than Duracell but you change more often. AER - The Rolls Royce but you pay for it! I've put a bass through the standard acoustic one and it's been fine with the advantage of putting another instrument or vocals through them. There's a battery version (about 5 hours usage) but most people who use them seem to buy the mains' one and do option C Buy a Leisure Battery and an inverter and use the amp you have. How long it lasts at a time will depend on how big the battery but I know folks who run a 100w AER for ten hours off one. Has the advantage that at a normal gig you just plug you amp in so you're not ending up with two sets of equipment. Steve Quote
Hathernman Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Other obvious one is Phil Jones Briefcase. Not tried one on battery power but love my Flightcase with EUB and BG Quote
gypsyjazzer Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 Thanks guys for your input--much appreciated. Quote
DaveFry Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 I get an okay sound with my NS NXT ( piezo ) through my Yamaha THR 10 if I use the setting on the amp for acoustic guitar ( ie for piezos ) with the EUB's tone control on minimum and the amp's bass on 8/10 , middle on 6/10 and treble on 3/10 .
