miles'tone
I remember something about that... didn't the singer throw a bit of a tantrum and go off stage for a while? Questionable idea starting a fire in an enclosed space full of thousands of people....
No it was John Fruciante who stopped playing so Anthony could tell the perps to "put that f***in sh*t out you a**holes, you want people to die?" Nobody stormed off though. Twice it happened too. Unbelievable!

Ziphoblat
Was that not the gig where they came back onto the stage after a break and opened with a cover of Jimi Hendrix's Fire, though?
MiltyG565
I was too tired to notice when I was watching it. Haha. I agree with MiltyG565, it would be awful if you'd paid to see them specifically live, saying that people were spending $2000 to be there (to see football). Bruno Mars did a good job as a performer, still don't think I'll start listening to his music. Has anyone seen RHCP live? I haven't and am wondering whether it's worth it if the opportunity comes around.
I've seen them live a couple of times. If it's an indoor venue, and you can get a standing ticket - definitely go! It's insanely enjoyable. If it's an outdoor gig and you can only get a seated ticket - give it a miss - it won't be anywhere near as good from the stands.

TomDuff
IIRC there was also some all-girl (Australian?) band as openers too. They seemed to get a bit miffed when they weren't being showered with adoration by all and sundry. Considering I'd seen plenty of pub bands making a better fist of it I was tending to side with the rest of the audience.
I think they were called Chicks on Speed, and they were sh*te. I recall Frusciante telling the crowd off for not being 'open minded' enough about them. Rest of the gig - James Brown and Chili's was quality though, this was at Man City's stadium around 2003/4 I think.

Fair play to him.

I was there too, seen RHCP many times, remember JF saying it was uncool for the grief they were getting. James Brown was good - remember him feigning tiredness etc - girl singers put a blanket over his shoulders and half escort him off stage, before he shrugs them off and breaks into crazy dancing. Great stagecraft.
