Hohner B Bass V Battery compartment replacement

I am trying to replace the black plastic box that holds the battery and preamp in the back of the bass. I am curious if there is an easy way to remove the preamp or if I have to unsolder/resolder all the wires from the preamp to the other compartment?

I'd have a direct word with Howard The Bass Doc - he is quite fond of B basses &, I believe, has one that has my old battery box in it!
