Hello from a newly found lost soul

Hi

New here and so far it has proved to be a great resource and shedding light on some of the mysteries from when i was younger.

Back to playing really, have been playing on and off since i was about 15. Heavily till i was nearly 30, then switched to sports. Rock bands mainly. Always had a bass lying around which never quite made it to a case to be put away and always came with me from flat to flat.

Recently have got back into playing and realized the bass had seen better days. It was beat up when i got it when i was 21! It was a 73 P-Bass, which someone had modified. After a year the 10th fret fell out! Sorted the neck back then, but looking at it now was a case of "trigger's (RIP) new brush" syndrome. Reckon would have had to refinish it, change the electrics, strings, bridge and guard, so not the same bass.

So followed the threads on the J&D Jazz basses and they helped make my mind up. Must say, very impressed. Cheap basses have come a long way.

Bass History, Epiphone EBM-5, a Kay as back up, Washburn les paul shape (lasted about a week, so neck heavy), Washburn headless (refinished with a monkey grip and tiger stripe paint job by a local shop), Another Washburn headless in brown and finally the Fender.

Amps, Hartke, Trace elliot, H&H, Marshall, Peavy and finally and still have a G&K 400rb which was at my parents home. Cabs - they will turn up, i am sure i have a fender 4*10 somewhere lying around. Till then iPad.

Anyway, just thought would say hello and thanks for the advice and information so far. Doubt will ever be a prolific poster but look forward to reading about your bass adventures.

Rich
