Myke Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) Hello, I was looking to replace the preamp in my Yamaha TRB5 and had come up with the bartolini HR-5.2/918AP. I was wondering where I could hear one? Also, without replacing the pickups could I make it active/passive or not? Thanks for nay information. Mike P.S. I did come up with a previous thread for this but it didn't really help. Edited February 5, 2014 by Myke Quote
ikay Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) The TRB-5 soapbars are passive so you can go active/passive. Here's a video comparing various preamps including the Bartolini NTMB (the pre you specified above is a configuration of the NTMB). The NTMB demo is towards the end at around 8m 20s. Obviously this demo doesn't necessarily reflect how it would sound in a TRB5. What don't you like about the TRB-5 preamp? Myke Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 Nothing's really wrong with it, I just fancied a change. And I'd like to see what my bass sounds like in passive too. It's all about experimenting really. Thank you for the video, I quite like the sound of the Delano in there as well. Quote
