Anyone heard of these guys?

Recommended Posts

They are 'new' it seems.....zero feedback, but some good prices on some bits and pieces

There is also a web site I found a couple of weeks ago http://www.bassguitarpartsdirect.co.uk/ and added it to the Repairs and Technical Issues section.

They appear to have a large range of Bridges and Machineheads.

One bonus of Fender ownwership is the range and availability of after market parts , and I presume a business worth its salt - esp if it's new - will concentrate on selling stuff it knows will fly off the shelves.

Besides - Warwick owners insist their basses are so good I'm surprised they'd need upgrades

Of course , you have a point though. Hope this lot will expand the range as business picks up and become a good first stop baseline for our little shopping trips.

It's for all the Fender owners whose basses ship with inferior hardware. Relax and rub in some more wax.

Do Schaller M4's fit a Warwick? as it looks like they have listed some Schaller machineheads.

Not true, Everything there will fit a Dion, given the right amount of routing, drilling, filling and hammering :)

Not to mention the fact that they're so desperately needed. If Leo had got the things right in the first place, there wouldn't be any market for that stuff. Then again, I suppose it does give Hondo owners something to aspire to...

:)

We all know whats gonna happen and I'm as guilty as anyone. Its very easy to open up trade links with the far east and import good inexpensive spares. As more do it the competition increases and the margins are squeezed. Lower margins means bigger economies of scale are needed and that means only the big guys can operate as they will get credit and sell parts alongside everything else, a good example is Thoman.
The profit on the "fender" style bridges will be about £3-£4.00 so imagine how many you need to sell everyday to make a living from it.
I have a friend who has a successful ebay guitar and bass parts store and he holds approx £50,000 in stock..... :) and has 30 years experience in the industry.
For these type of enterprises to be viable you need large capitalization and you may not see a return for a year or so.
On the other hand if they are able to get it running without it needing to pay the bills for a few months then good luck to them and they should be supported as the service and personal touch is generally better from smaller enterprises.
Long term few survive, as for me personally I'll be sticking to building basses and I am leaving selling parts to others.
At those prices I may even get some parts for my own builds.

Usually find them going for around £70.00 for chrome.

Without wishing to pour cold water on the operation, Thomann have Schaller M4 machines for less than the starting price of their auctions, never mind where the final price might end up.

http://www.thomann.de/gb/schaller_m4a_ebassmechanik.htm

That's nothing compared to what they'd like to get for them: http://www.bassguitarpartsdirect.co.uk/sho...2+Bass+Machines

I appreciate that it's tough to get started, and even tougher to compete against the buying power of a large, well established company.

Well I got hold of my Dimarzio UltraJazzes from these guys (after a little cock-up on my behalf) yesterday, and I have to say, I couldn't be happier!!
The price was great (£35 cheaper than allparts)
They were VERY quickly delivered
The customer service / correspondence was fast and very helpful

I think perhaps Thomann only have two of those boxes ticked? Perhaps just the first one!?
BIN's are also only available to people who have feedback over 15? is that right?.....I think its in the pipeline for these guys as soon as that happens. There was no 'bidding' on my item...the price stayed the same!

Anyway, highly recommended!

Cheers

As long as they really try to keep that up and the fast delivery then they should be alright.

I emailed Thoman weeks ago regarding a Sandberg that I loved the look of. Didn't hear anything back from them and that plus my little ordeal with one of their big competitors has made me very sure that I will not be trying to order anything from Germany again.
