SlapbassSteve
Such a shame these still aren't available. Any more word on when/if they're getting more in stock?
TheGreek
Surely the trick with these is to wait for them to appear on ebay - £100 new = £30 second hand(??). You can justify that for a toy..
tauzero
Doesn't look like they will be back in stock - showing as "not part of our current product range anymore.". Boo.
Happy Jack
Excellent news! The value of mine just doubled then. Wow - I'm £90 up.

dannybuoy
Until they return, Tanglewood is your next cheapest option at £200: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/TanglewoodSundance.html
Silvia Bluejay
My FB feed has just presented me with this, if it can be of any help... I've never seen one on ebay, but I wouldn't be surprised if a HB uke-bass sold for £70. A lot of sellers put HB basses up on ebay for their new price or more, but I haven't seen one sell at this. I"ve seen a Tanglewood Traveler bass sell for £100 on ebay, but I've also seen one sell for £150. They are quite a bit larger than the uke-basses, which might be an advantage. I've sort-of tried a Kala U-bass in a shop, and it made almost no sound at all. I'm not convinced that I want one, speaking personally. AttitudeCastle
If these do come back, I'm seriously tempted to take the plunge! Would be nice to have a nice phat alternative to the P bass to take for acoustic sets, think something like this or a Kala through an amp will sound that bit more acoustic-y and juicy! oscaraluke
They seem to be back in Thomann site! But it seems there should not be many on stock (2 to 5 days for both models...) Anyone else got his/hers already lately? Edited July 15, 2014 by oscaraluke

dannybuoy
2 to 5 days means they are not in stock so good luck! Tempted by the fretless myself...
oscaraluke
According to another forum, 15 days ago they weren't even in the catalogue, so I am optimistic about it coming back, at least enough time for me to buy it ... The only ones close in price seem to be the ones at http://www.buzzardsf...es-and-purchase but they are just adaptations and they are a little more expensive. The piezo pickup included in these cost less than 7 euro if you search for it as spare part, and it is meant to be for guitar: http://www.amazon.co...r/dp/B007HVGLBC Speaking for myself, couldn't miss the HB this time. Let's see how good they are. Edited July 15, 2014 by oscaraluke
DorsetBlue
Hmmmm, wonder how easy a leftie diy conversion would be.....
dannybuoy
Not easy. You might be able to swap the nut around if the slots aren't sloping downwards towards the tuners, but the intonation will be out unless you reverse the fixed bridge, which is a piece of plastic fitted tightly into an angled slot in the wood.
Yes, was thinking that but looking closely at the piccies on Thomann; the nut looks flat cut and potentially reversible and the bridge intonation piece looks to be fitted square and maybe also reversible (or could go fretless and learn to sort that out myself). I suspect the holes in the bridge would need a little reaming. Anyone with one able to confirm?
dannybuoy
You could be right there, you might just need to flip the bridge piece round and job done. Compared to the Kala it looks pretty straight (which will probably mean intonation isn't great on the fretted):
Annoying Twit
Very much looking forward to reviews of these. Not too sure I'll be buying one myself, but I would like to know what they are like. Online reviews that I have seen have been mixed, with some people loving them, and some people not being so enthusiastic. I bid on one of the tanglewoods, but my bid was half what it went for! Really surprised it went for £141, but it is an ex-demo, so perhaps more valued than simple second hand. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171380224548?ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1435.l2649

dannybuoy
I'm thinking of getting a Gold Tone Micro bass: http://www.banjosdirect.co.uk/a-new-low-goldtone-microbass-x28m-bassx29-fretted-2083-p.asp But I could always be tempted by the Harley Benton at a third of the price! Highfox
Awww, ain't it cute? So it showed up today first impression it's nice, any smaller and it would be useless for me. Strings are very sticky atm and pretty hard to play, it's also a very humid and clammy day here, one of those when your hands just don't slide on guitar necks. Thought I'd record a clip (excuse the lazy playing, sausage finger rule lol) don't know why it made me want to go bossa on my drum machine. DI'd through my tonehammer, needs a lot more work on the eq when going DI, I couldn't get it. Think it would need some compression or the like. It sounds pretty decent through a cab. Jean-Luc Pickguard
Looks very nice highfox. Mine was delivered yesterday, but I'm 200 miles away so I'll only get to unbox it tomorrow evening. I might try a bit of unscented talc on the strings - like I used to use on my ashbory.
