I will take the opperchancity to mention once again, the Yamaha TRBX 304. Nice slim neck, 2 band eq and 5 position selector switch, £260 ish, great Yamaha build quality.

No. SR necks are 24 fret long with a slanted pocket. ATK necks are 22 frets long into a standard shape neck pocket.

I tried an ATK in a shop a couple of weeks ago. Although my favourite 2 basses have slim necks - one is an older SR400 - I found the ATK still very comfortable to play. In fact I liked it very much :gas: but it's very heavy.

Thanks :)

I've had an SR505 for about 15 years (I think!).
I've a number of basses to choose from, but my SR is my 'go to' bass for most things - my musical safety blanket. :)

A little bit heavier and neck wide compared to the SR500, but if you're after a slim necked bass, the SR's are certainly going to meet that criteria.

Not sure where it came from, but they're credited with having the fastest slimmest necks of any production bass.

It's got a good range of sounds as well, although the Ibanez artist list does give the impression that their use is limited to various genres of rock.

there is also a TRBX174 for a cheaper, passive P/J option.

Thanks again.

I've just seen an image online of the Ibanez SRX530-BBT Brown Burst and have fallen in love with it !

Will have to get myself along to a music shop and try one out.

PS Has anyone got one ? If so, would you recommend it ?

Cheers.

I would just add that there are a number of nice 2nd hand Ibanez basses for sale at the moment including an SR600 and SR700 that are almost at your budget. Thats an awful lot of bass for the money

I was just basing that on hair length and scowls. :)
