2 x 12” Burman guitar speakers XP5012 50w 15ohm dual-concentric.
Revised price of £300.......£375 felt too high, whatever the experts say they are worth!

Up for sale is a pair of very rare and high quality speakers indeed, custom made by Goodmans for the legendary Burman amplifiers. If you don’t know about Burman amps, it is worth reading about these here:

Burmans are probably the best British guitar amps ever made. They are very high spec indeed and Greg Burman always designed and built them without compromises of any sort…and this extended to the speakers he used too. The regular and excellent Goodmans speakers you could get back in the 70s weren’t good enough for him; so he got them to custom-design these Burman XP5012 speakers for him and they are as over-engineered as everything else Greg designed. The black label Burman speakers were made by MacKenzie and are therefore probably less sought after than the red-label Burmans, made by Goodmans.

Being dual-concentric, these speakers offer incredible extended tonal range and clarity and can handle everything a Burman amp can throw at them….and that is a very great deal indeed. Even though these speakers are rated at 50w I reckon they would easily handle 75w or more. The tone that the speakers can produce is just wonderful, with clear full bass and highly detailed treble and mids, whether being driven clean or with the huge and extraordinary three-stage gain of a Burman amp.

These speakers are not made any more and are very rare indeed. So grab them while you have the chance; as you probably won’t see a pair again for years, especially not in such good working order as these.

I have tested them in a 2 x 12 cab and the extended range is SO deep and full, it is hard to believe what you are hearing. The cones are in excellent condition, as are the rubber gators and there is no rubbing of the cones/voice-coil. They work just as they should. The terminals are a bit scabby with old solder, but they work fine. One of the speakers is missing its label; but they are clearly a matched pair, everything about them is identical.

I have it on good authority that a good pair of these speakers can go for about £600, on the rare occasions that they turn up; but that seems like an awful lot for a pair of guitar speaker, even if these are the best speakers I have ever heard and I've tried quite a lot.
So I am asking considerably less for the pair, given too that one is missing its label and the terminals are a bit scabby on both (the terminals work fine though).

£300 cash on collection from Nottingham preferred; but shipping and electronic bank transfer could be arranged at your cost.
