I look at bitsas such as [url=http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fretless-Jazz-Bass-/251446206117?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item3a8b5c9ea5]this defretted Jazz Bass[/url] and think that they could be really nice instruments that play and sound fantastic. Or they could be unusable unsalvageable rubbish. How on earth would a potential buyer know?

either - value it on the value of some its parts...

or by who put it together - theres some folk on here you would trust to come up with the good stuff

I doubt you can go too far wrong bolting a Fender copy together, but I'd be very wary of splintery amateur defrets patched up with epoxy. If it was a factory fretless neck it'd be worth a watch, but I wouldn't touch it with that defret job.
