Scott S
Hey Bill JJ is a totally underrated player; I love his work with Holdsworth! I'm having major problems with my connection and haven't been able to look at your solo from "Midnight Bell" but I hope to very soon. "Universe" and "Quantum" are both amazing Planet X CD's as well, and Rufus Philpot is another much underrated player with phenomenal chops. I'm digressing a bit but have you heard "Heavy Machinery" by the Johansson bros and Allan Holdsworth? Jens' left hand is doing some outrageous stuff and well worth closer inspection, which leads me to... Tab transcriptions. I'm desperate to find tab such as that from the above artists. Ok, I love the usual, more widely known and common artist transcriptions but it would be wonderful to access some less available tab, too. John Patitucci (I can only find notation) and Matt Garrison (I can't find anything, lol) tab would be a breath of fresh air. Anyway, mate, I'm really looking forward to you getting your website up and running. Cheers Scott.
Bilbo
Been a fan of Flim since I was a teenager (now 50). I bought an LP called Grasshopper by the Wayne Johnson Trio. This recently appeared on youtube from 1982. Follow the link and htere is loads more early JJ. An amusing aside, the drummer, Bill Berg, is not a pro musician. He is a Disney animator and drew Beauty from Beauty and The Beast and, I think, some of the lead characters in The Lion King. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7k5EQWfqVOQ
White Cloud
Another big JJ fan here. I was lucky enough to share a chin wag and a beer with him during Alan Holdsworth's last UK tour. Fabulous musician, great human being.
Bill
Glad to see some JJ's fans out there! yeah aswell as an incredible player he is a really humble guy also, i managed to have a chat with him after a very intimate (150-200 capacitiy) Allan Holdsworth gig in Swindon around 7 years ago! :-)
chardbass
Nice job- JJ has a very distinct style. I saw him with Holdsworth around 1989 in Newcastle- funnily enough Rufus Philpot was there too as he was a year above me in college. Obviously my career has gone much better than both of them :-/

lowdown
Also another JJ fan, I first heard him (also) on The Grasshopper album (Wayne Johnson) way back yonder. Such a melodic player, and great grooves full of ideas. Well played Bill.

urb
Very well played Bill and yes JJ is so good - amazing tone, great taste and lovely musical chops - bastard! Only kidding he's massively underrated - probably becuase he doesn't do 'stunt' bass playing - but he really has got it all as a player. Nice one Bit cheesy this but hey it's a great bass solo - 2mins or so in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIqY9Ivntfo Edited February 11, 2014 by urb

I was watching the Lee Ritenour/Dave Grusin 'Live @ the Record Plant' Video earlier today, And Carlos Vega played just superb on that (as did they all).
