alembic1989 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Evening all. My current 6 string (34" scale) is currently tuned B-B. I have been thinking for some time that I'd like to experiment with E-E tuning. Can any one suggest string gauges.....maybe staring with 110/120 for bottom E and going from there. ..it would be a bonus if anyone has done the same ( I'm sure they have) and if anyone knows if a pre made set is available ...if not its no big deal to buy individually. Thanks in advance. Quote
Jonny Walker Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 i buy all my strings from circle k strings... they have a tension guide to work out what string gauge you want for a particular note. currently i have a .172 for my top string to keep things nice and tight in drop g, which is about 40-45 ppsi. have a look anyway Quote
tauzero Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Just use the top six strings from a 7-string set. Dean Markley - 22 27 47 67 87 107, Ken Smith - 20 28 44 63 84 106. Or get a set from Circle K - they do bottom string gauges from .051 up.
