aceuggy
Budget, yes good question. Hoping to buy used, so around £
iconic
15 watts is plenty for a spare room at home...i have a fender rumble 15 at work, not bad at all and also has an external input which is useful. i also have a peavey microbass 20, also very good for the size but no external 'in' ....currently got my pc sound going thru it and its very LOUD when used as a monitor like this! i had an orange 20 watt (two in fact!)...total POS

Lozz196
Depending on sounds required, for a rich warm sound the Fender Rumble is great. Ampeg BA108 gives great Ampeggy tones, and the Marshall MB has 2 channels, modern-clean with a compressor, or old-school valvey, with gain. That said if you can track down a Line6 Lowdown15 that would get my vote. I`ve heard a good few Basschatters play through these when buying basses and those little amps certainly add to the sellability of said basses - they sound great. Japhet
+1 for the Line 6 LD15. I've got one and it's a brilliant little thing for next to nothing money. Loads of tones available with a good range of effects. You' probably pick one up (used) for £50 or maybe less.
Grangur
Roland Cube. It comes with on board effects too.

theyellowcar
I have a Rumble 15 for bedroom practice, the aux in is great - 90% of the time I plug my iPhone in, stick my headphones on and jam along to my favourite tracks.
aceuggy
Thanks for the replies folks. Have now picked up a nice Marshall MB30.
Woodinblack
I have a yamaha THR10, which is a guitar amp, but has a bass section, and it is a fantastic amp to play along with, it has a USB in / out for the computer as well as an aux for the iPod for stuff. Produces a huge sound for such a tiny machine
