my wifes just bought me a samick yb5-639/gig form a bloke she works with.the bass is in quite good condition with one or two dings to the headstock.ive cleaned it up and it plays quite well the only thing is every now and then it makes a loud pop.its an active bass but I really cant find much on the net about them.anyone any ideas whats causing the loud pop.

Have you try change a new battery? I heard you mention the word active.

I put a new 9v in the circuit board for ive pre amp is inside a plastic bag in the cavity is this normal.having never had an active bass I don't know if right on not

Plastic bag is unusual. Sounds like a measure to stop the board touching wires, pots in the cavity. Pop sounds like an unwanted contact being made or broken. I'd get the solders checked for bad/loose joints, particularly earths.

its not a bad bass really.the string spacing is tight but I play with a pick so its fine.im taking it to a local guitar repairer for a once over and a set up on Saturday hopefully no major cash needs to be spent
