jakenewmanbass
Love it or hate it (I like it personally) this is a great rendition. Just shows how impact can be felt if things are done simply but 'right' It has dynamic control, pace, poise and accuracy and so it sounds good 2 voices 2 instruments...! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLrC7e3vSv8

gjones
When ever I hear this, I have a chuckle at how they managed to crowbar the words 'Kilimanjaro' and 'Serengeti' in there.

SteveK
Had the good fortune of playing with TOTO many times over the years. Hearing Africa live is always a 'goosebumps' moment. These chaps certainly do it justice - nice one!

Les
They need to wear the baggy shorts to hide the size of their balls for having a go at this with just 2 vox, bass and guitar. Chapeau.

KevB
Yep, as so often the case it's the quality of the vocals that really sell it. If I was being really critical I'd say ditch the music stand but I've seen acts like this before and they often have incredibly large set lists to choose from so it becomes very difficult to have it all totally down by memory. essexbasscat
Nowt wrong with that. As said above, the good vocals sell it, poor vocals could sink it like an anchor

Mike
It certainly sounds nice but don't be fooled - a lot of processing has taken place. It's clearly quite strongly compressed and the lead vocals have been obviously (and to my ears, unmusically) autotuned. Quite unnatural sounding, particularly the higher parts. Bilbo
Tidy. I do a regular duo gig of this nature (guitar bass, lead vocs backing vocs). It don't sound like that Actually, the strength of this performance is in the lead vocalist. He's a monster. Also worth youtubing 'Perpetuum Jazzilw Africa'. The opposite end of the spectrum. I love theior faux- jungle sounds.
51m0n
Nice idea, think there is either some autotune on the vox or maybe (going for a benefit of the doubt scenario) they have a long chorus or similar modulation effect in there on the lead, or on the lead reverb.... Still mahoosive cahoonies for attempting this one, love this track

It may very well have been done that way on the night, I'm just very cynical and sceptical of anything I see on the internet. It's all a work, brother.
