Picked up a 4003 and has the custom Ric Schaller buttons. Weirdly, the upper horn button appears to be too large for either of my Schaller locks; it simply won't fit. The bottom button fits just fine. Is this common? Is it worth emailing Ric and asking them to swap it? Bit of a bizzare factory defect!

Contacted Rosetti about the issue, they are sending me a replacement set foc. Can't fault that customer service one bit! :)

Certainly better than Rickenbacker's customer service in the States!

I've never heard of that issue before. If you weren't getting a replacement I'd buy a set of new Schallers and try unscrewing the problematic one with a cloth and pair of pliers/clamps.

I had this issue with one of the Schaller strap-lock buttons on a Godin. I had to grind it down on an improvised lathe to get it to mate with the other part.

Oh I unscrewed it no problem to see how big the screw hole was as I have some spare buttons, but the hole is too large for normal Schaller fittings and I wasn't prepared to go the matchstick/toothpick route :)

I contacted US RIC initially and they just referred me to Rosettti.
