What's the best pedal tuner?

Recommended Posts

I haven't bought one for nearly 10 years so I'm out of the loop.

I'm looking at build and obviously accuracy plus ease of reading on stage in daylight and darkness.

are you looking for the grail of pedal tuners or the best bang for the buck?
tc polytune works fine as does the korg pitchblack, but peterson strobo stomp classic is probably more accurate.

A friend of mine had a Peterson. He said as accurate as it is it's build isn't great and it's not simplistic enough for the stage.

What's the mini TC Polytune like?

Polytune Mini serves me well.

it definately will if you only need A=440Hz.

Polytune is my favourite

I had nothing but bother with the Korg, slow response and eventually broke after around 6 months

I've not used the mini I just have the standard which is good for my clumsy size 12's

Sonic Research Turbo Tuner is my favourite. I will say I was taken aback today after tuning my Stingray with a Snark and then checking it with the Turbo Tuner. The Snark is a surprisingly accurate, cheap solution.

Tried pitchblack, peterson, turbo tuner and polytune, and turbo tuner is the best among the lot. Most accurate and easiest to use in tuning and setup IMO.

I've used TU-2s for years and years. No issues at all, perfectly great and built like a tank. Slightly dull dislay in bright sunshine, but it's the UK, so minimal negative effect there ;).
Just got a Polytune mini to save space on a little board and it seems cool so far, some slight noise problems with it being a digital pedal in a power daisy chain. But changing it's position in the effects chain seems to have eleviated that.

I've also got a TU3. As previously said, a little dull in bright sunshine but still readable. At light light it's as clear as a bell. I found that it ate battery life so would recommend mains power.

Well... this has just come up for sale.

Take that back.... mine broke this weekend mid rehearsal, footswitch started misbehaving. Funnily enough I've had this happen twice on other TC pedals. Time to order a TU3, anyone got one going spare?
