BobVbass Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Just a quick query for the Aria experts on here - did Matsumoku do unlined versions of the SB basses in the early eighties? I've only seen lined & marked versions but I'm looking at one at the minute that appears to have a plain fretboard - checked the usual reference sites and haven't come up with any examples; just wondering if it's a refitted fretboard thanks Bob Quote
Grangur Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) Do you mean like this one? http://www.ebay.co.u...-/331112999547 I don't know if it's 80s Edited February 13, 2014 by Grangur Quote
Annoying Twit Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 That's much later than 80s, and was on sale in this forum for some time. Quote

Dingus Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014
Quite possibly. Before unlined touchboards came in as a standard model with the R variants, special order fretless models would be prepared by the FujiGen custom shop.
I deleted the original post because, after some You Tube research , I think he was playing a fretted Aria SB and an unlined fretless Spector bass. I'm getting to be the age where my memory is starting to play tricks on me! Quote
