Samashton12 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Hi guys, Anyone got one? & more specifically (being only 35 watts) can you use it for on-stage monitoring when DI'd? The FX loop feature seems interesting, I could bypass the on board pre-amp & use my VT Bass. Thanks, Sam Quote
Grissle Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I really like Ampegs little combos and the ba110 would probably work in low to moderate stage levels. But I'd look hard at the new Fender Rumble 40, it uses Class D power and has better features. And since aquiring Genz Benz should sound stellar. Quote
Lozz196 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 You`d need to be in a quiet band imo to use of these as stage monitoring. I love the sound of the BA amps, and have the 108, but I`ve used the BA115 which is 100 watts into a 15 inch speaker as a provided rig and full pelt I could barely hear it with a full band. Admittedly we were punky/indie type stuff, but not particularly loud and it struggled. Quote
theyellowcar Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Had two of these for bedroom practice and had to send both back for different faults (dodgy input and then a rattling cab) When they did work they were brilliant. I just couldn't bring myself to try a third on the off chance it might a be a good one. I went for a Fender Rumble instead, which has been faultless. Quote
Samashton12 Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 I was also looking into the BA series for its Compactness, it weighs in at around 31lbs & is rather cheap at £170 Quote
Samashton12 Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 The new Rumble 40 seems a viable option but the lack of FX loop & being only 5 watts more, would it be loud enough? Quote
gjones Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Using a small amp and putting it through a PA is ok as long as you raise it to ear level. I've done it before and it sounded great, The only problem is, if there's not much foldback, nobody else on stage can hear you. Quote

Samashton12 Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 I wish it had an effects loop Quote
Grissle Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Ya, I think that so few people use an effects loop on a bass amp these days so its not a high priority.😕 Quote
Samashton12 Posted February 16, 2014 Author Posted February 16, 2014 I think I'm gonna opt for a Rumble 40. Quote

Grissle Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Ya let us know, I think there's a lot of interest in these because of the Class D and Genz Benz connection. Quote
theyellowcar Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) Just had the fortune of playing through the Rumble 40 at Wunjo's on Denmark St. One word - incredible. First things first it really does weigh nothing. It reminded me of the tiny 15 watt guitar combos my band used to practice with a decade ago, it was unbelievable. The sound was impressive, the built in voicings (Vintage and Bright) were effective and allowed for tones that ranged from full on dub to slightly driven tube on the Vintage setting, and then a really nice slap tone with the bright switch engaged. I didn't really play with the EQ because it sounded great flat, and the output seemed fine, although again i didn't push the master past halfway. All in all, very impressive for the price, great tone, amazing look, and a crazy lightweight box. EDIT: and after checking in with Ms Yellow I have just bought it Edited February 20, 2014 by theyellowcar Quote
Iheartreverb Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I played a BA115 recently as it was at a mates place. Could barely hear myself with a drummer and two guitarists. Nothing special about the tone either. Quote
