franzbassist Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) I spotted this photo on Facebook a couple of weeks back and was intrigued... It turns out that Demeter are bringing out a new tube preamp/class D power amp head: the Minnie VTBP-M-800-D! I have ordered one (non-DI) from the good people at Bass Gear, and it should be with me in a couple of weeks - first one in the UK! Edited March 21, 2014 by walbassist Quote
Platypus Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Sweet! I think Barrie has ordered one also Quote
Toasted Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 … and at the low, introductory price, of only eleventy billion pounds. Quote

molan Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014
It's got to be £1500 doesn't it?
To be honest that's what I thought - however it looks like they will be £1,125 which feels like a really good price for such a high quality piece of kit. A well respected US reviewer at NAMM said: "I did play through the Demeter head, and it was quite honestly the most exciting thing I saw at the show. The presentation/packaging is just fantastic. I have not had GAS like this for anything for a very long time. I told James I had to have one, and I fully expect that it's going to become my go to head. Just fantastic! " Quote
Happy Jack Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 So it's basically an improved Orange Terror Bass? Quote
KK Jale Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Way, way more EQ control I imagine (wouldn't be difficult). No gain, but you could outboard that. I would LOVE one of these. Quote

warwickhunt Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I'll subscribe and see how these pan out. Quote
Beer of the Bass Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014
So it's basically an improved Orange Terror Bass?
I get the impression from their description that it's geared towards cleaner sounds than the Orange specialises in, and as it doesn't use a Fender type tone stack, it should be a little more versatile in terms of EQ. Transformer based DI is a sought-after thing too. So only really like the Orange in that it's a smallish box with a valve preamp and class-D power amp. I can't afford one, but it looks like a nice bit of kit... Quote

dannybuoy Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Must be a good amp if Gandalf uses it. Quote
That's cork-sniffing bs if you ask me... No offence intended but it's the perfect amp for many situations/people. Having owned Aguilar and Thunderfunk I returned to my trusty ABM, which the Terror justs edges for me. Saying that I'd like a rattle at this Demeter... Or the Jule Monique and separate Minnie power amp would probably be more me come to think of it. Edited February 14, 2014 by Bigwan Quote
The price is for the non DI version. DI models will be about 3-4 weeks behind the standard models. The DI will be a Jensen Transformer job so should be a really nice addition for people that need them. They have a great rep for recording. Interestingly I've spoken to a few people since we've known about these and quite a few people have no need of on onboard DI for a gigging amp so happy not to have one. I must admit it wouldn't bother me because I often DI through my Sansamp for live work or use whatever the studio prefers for recording. Quote
