BigRedX Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 (edited) Germans, because Ton = Tone. And no more stupid than the British calling cars "Silver Mist" or "Triumph Herald" and wondering why the Germans don't buy them. Edited February 15, 2014 by BigRedX

Annoying Twit Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 Yeah, it makes more sense if "Ton" in German = "Tone" in English. It was a little bit of a moment when I saw it though.

The image that popped into my mind was off some luthiers who may have imbibed a bit too much marijuana back in the 70s.
Woodinblack Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I would say that for an actual shipping company, you have to go some way to beat bugera http://www.bugera-amps.com/EN/home.aspx
CPBass Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Vagina Guitars? Didnt recognise the language. Next thing you know we'll have Wizard Sleeve Guitars :-0
KingBollock Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 When I was in school my parents bought me some trainers of the brand Purvey. Can you imagine the stick I would have got? I coloured the name in with a permanent marker and wore them for a full year, until someone sitting behind me in class asked if I had coloured them in. I hated those damned things, they were made of plastic and made my feet stink and had a plastic knobbly bit inside that hurt like hell. But what can you expect for trainers that cost £4?

CPBass Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 My mother did that kind of thing to me all my bloody childhood years. Never been so happy to get a paper round and get some adidas. I hate number names. The Ibanez range is totally unnecessary and confusing to the inexperienced, a cool name is a great opportunity to sex up the product IMO
stubass Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I've got a "facom" socket set in my garage, always makes me giggle. My winter tyres were "goodride". So childish!

Beer of the Bass Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 (edited) I think the implication was that what the names have in common is being entirely unremarkable in Germany. I noticed that C*ntz guitars have now altered their branding a little for the export market. They're now "A guitars", with the luthier's name in subscript. Edited May 26, 2014 by Beer of the Bass
