bremen Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Ladies and gentlemen, I have a bitsa P that I've fitted with a cheapo piezo bridge http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Four-String-Bass-Piezo-Bridge-B41-/141171427966?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&var=&hash=item20de790a7e and I really like it - much more 'organic', 'woody', 'mwah' [insert popular desirable attribute for a fretless] than the magnetic pickup, that I don't use at all. Only problem is that there's a bit of variation between strings. No way to get at the individual transducers to adjust levels, and I wouldn't really expect much for the price. Can anyone recommend a better quality bridge? I thank you! Quote
ikay Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Graphtec Ghost piezo systems are very good. Available as piezo loaded saddles to retrofit in a standard P/J bridge or as a fully loaded Hipshot 'A' style bridge assembly (I have the Hipshot bridge version). Needs a buffer/preamp to get the full range from the piezos (I use a John East MPM-01). I've also tried the Graphtech Acoustiphonic preamp but prefer the East. The outputs from the individual saddles are simply summed into the buffer. No individual level controls for each string but the output is very even across the strings (on mine anyway). http://www.graphtech.com/products/brands/ghost/ghost-pickups---bass http://www.bestbassgear.com/hipshot-piezo-style-bass-bridges.htm. bremen Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 Excellent, thanks! I love that they're saddles to just add to an existing bbot. I can do my own pre. Did you buy direct from USA? Thanks again. Quote

I added the East buffer as part of a preamp mod. Applestone Music are a UK Graphtec supplier. They don't show the bass saddles on their website but may be able to order them in.
