WishIcouldplay
Hi all.... I am embarking on tracking down a new amp. I have it down to four options all probably very different but I would be interested in your experiences. The options are... Ampeg V4B....new one Mesa Boogie....new valve head TC Electronics RH 750 Glockenlang. Look forward to hearing your opinions. It is my plan to hook these up to two of the new Begantino NV15 cabs...what do you think??
mrtcat
Wow that's a diverse selection! The only way you'll get to know which is for you is to try them. I had a TC RH450 and it was immaculately made but for me it lacked low end weight. Personally if cash was no issue I'd be very keen to have a go on the Mesa Boogie but as I said before you need to try for yourself. Happy hunting! Great cab choice btw Edited February 15, 2014 by mrtcat
xgsjx
I'd say go to a shop that stocks.
JamesBass
Don't look beyond the Ashdown CTM300 all valve head, I own one and it's an utter glorious piece of kit! Best amp I tried, ever!
Roland Rock
Your list is very diverse; can you tell us the kind of tone you're after? I adore my Glockenklang, the clean tone is sublime. However, I still have my valve amp for old-school sounds.
gsgbass
I'd go with the TC Electronic RH450 head. Mine powers an Ampeg Heritage SVT-410HLF, balls to the wall!
chris_b
That's a wide selection of differing tones to have as a short list. I'd also add GK and Aguilar amps to the list, but I have no idea how you settle on a sound from that lot. The NV115's have very good reviews but don't seem to have set the world alight like the CN and HD series. Have you heard one? I'd also look at Barefaced cabs. A Big Twin 2 could take on 2 of the NV115 cabs. Edited February 17, 2014 by chris_b
mxm
I'd check out the Fender Bassman 100T as well. Got mine going through 2x HS210 Bergs.
Handwired
You need to try and nail down the type of tone you're after before a short list is created, and maybe size and weight could be a consideration. Once we know the parameters we can advise better.
