I have 3 basses and I am extremely happy with them all, but want to get down to two. This is the one I have simply not bonded quite so tightly with. It is a Schecter 004 (forerunner, and incredibly similar to, the Stargazer). About 10 years old, but still in great condition with a few minor grazes and nicks, minor buckle rash on the back. I have put this bass through quite a few "incarnations" and IMO this is the best one. It has the original gloss black body with a custom matt black pickguard. Twin precision pickups, one in the Fender P sweetspot, the second pretty much in the MM Stingray sweetspot. And of course the nice Maple neck, with black block inlays. This neck really is a treat to play. Weighs 8.9 lbs. It also has .... Solid ash body Brass nut 34" scale 3 band Artec preamp (with sweepable mids) Hefty cast Matsumoke-made bridge. Slim maple neck, 38mm nut. Straight, no issues, a pleasure to play in fact. Two precision pickups, believed MIJ either 80's or 90's. Both are nice units. Tuners are Schecters own, are smooth to use and hold tune excellently. This bass is all about using the pickups independently, either the neck or the bridge, blended they are rather "meh". The neck pickup is pure Fender P. And, as for the bridge pickup, if you've never tried a P pickup in the Musicman sweetspot you are in for a treat. Fat, punchy fingerstyle tones. All my basses are this setup now. The 3 band EQ allows for a fair bit of tweaking too. Someone's going to get a great bass for very little money. £169 if you collect from me in the Southampton area. Or £179 posted to you in mainland UK. For posting it will be separated into neck and body ... its a piece of pi$$ to put back together though, 5 screws. If you have a decent philips screwdriver you can't go wrong. Has a new set of 105-45 nickel roundwounds on. Will come with a good, padded, protective gigbag. Sorry, no trades this time. Four knobs, two of them concentric, so volume, blend, bass/treble and mid frequency/mid level.It's only a few weeks old. Works 100% perfectly. I've a pink Westfield P with another P added, and together they sound like a P with more attitude. Does that get it? [/quote] I've had double P's before with the pickups well separated that sounded really good when blended (quite similar but beefier to a J bass with pickups blended).
