Jono Bolton Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 I've had my Tele for about a month now and had it strung with whatever silly strings it came with, 9s or something and they were far too weedy for me. Today I finally got round to sticking on a set of Skinny Top Heavy Bottoms (10-52) and the difference is incredible, nice and light for bending up top, then nice and chunky for for chords on the bottom. I've been able to lower the action a fair bit too.
xilddx Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) I tried 9s on my '61 Melody Maker and it's amazing to play, partly because the neck is wonderful and the frets are worn in beautifully. I then tried 10s again and I'm going back to 9s. Optima Gold for me. Much prefer them to the D'addarios that I've used for ages. Can't imagine playing 12s though!
