Jono Bolton
I've had my Tele for about a month now and had it strung with whatever silly strings it came with, 9s or something and they were far too weedy for me. Today I finally got round to sticking on a set of Skinny Top Heavy Bottoms (10-52) and the difference is incredible, nice and light for bending up top, then nice and chunky for for chords on the bottom. I've been able to lower the action a fair bit too.
xilddx
I tried 9s on my '61 Melody Maker and it's amazing to play, partly because the neck is wonderful and the frets are worn in beautifully. I then tried 10s again and I'm going back to 9s. Optima Gold for me. Much prefer them to the D'addarios that I've used for ages. Can't imagine playing 12s though! Or even 11s for that matter Edited August 5, 2014 by xilddx
