hughcanbefound
Hi everyone! Just bought myself a Yamaha BB614 and a Marshall MB15 practice amp and I love them! I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for what I should go for to get myself some distortion in there, an effects pedal for instance. It needs to be quite cheap (because I already broke the bank with the bass and amp!). Thanks in advance, -Hugh
Wooks
Your best bet is to invest a cheap multi effects pedal like the Zoom series of pedals anything like the Zoom 708ii or the B2.1u. If you are lucky you can pick them up relatively cheaply on EBay of even in the for sale section on here. I've got a Zoom 708ii that I might be selling soon if you're intrested?? Here's a link to the product Zoom 708ii Edited July 7, 2008 by Wooks
sk8
get a multi like the Zoom B2.1u and then you can decide what other effects you like
Hamster
I was going to say the same as Wooks, but he beat me to it Just a +1 for the above then. A Zoom pedal will give you what you want, and will give you more ideas about what you can do. Hamster

Do me a favour, before you try and sell it on here PM me please if you decide to go ahead with it. What sort of price would you be thinking? It looks fantastic but I see it's old stock, no problem of course but it just doesn't when trying to find a *new* price! Cheers. -- Also, looked at the 2.1u and it's £100 from Amazon! Ahh!!! Is there nothing cheaper (I'm only 16 so don't have an income!).

hughcanbefound
Zoom B1?
That's more like it! And it seems to have what I want... Great thank you clauster. I couldn't find that but it seems like the basic multi-effects pedal... Hmm. Dave Dubya
When I was in the same position - fairly new to bass, and thinking about a pedal - I bought a Boss ODB-3 Overdrive pedal. It was fairly cheap on ebay - they come up on there for £10-20 - and so didn't break the bank at all, for something which I might not use all the time. xgsjx
Keep looking. I got a zoom 708II off ebay for less than £30. No psu & needed the power & input sockets resoldered but psu's can be had for way less than a tenner.

OutToPlayJazz
Hi again, Hugh... Glad you found the BB614 in the end - Nice bass, huh? As for effects, I really don't use them. Just a really good quality bass & amp does for me. I've got a barely used Zoom B2 sitting unloved in my cable box. If you pay the postage, it's yours
hughcanbefound
Thanks, dood. I realised that literally 20 secs after I started the thread. My bad! OutToPlayJazz, I PMed you just now.
gusto
Hey Hugh, Every time I read one of your posts I imagine your voice to sound like a south park character like your pic. lol lol Anyway, car boot sales can be a good way of finding cheap effects, and sometimes expensive effects cheap Always worth a browse. I know a few people who have found absolute bargains, including a guy I went to college with (a few years ago now) who picked up a Steve Vai signature model Ibanez for 20 quid!!!!!!!!!!! He didn't know what it was! It had no strings, a machine head missing and was a bit scratched up. I think he still has it, fixed up now of course. (I thought it was probably stolen from somewhere, so be careful). Also Cash Converters often have cheap gear in them too.
