woodyratm
I dislike IE11 greatly. Nothing I use works on it yet!

gary mac
Mr Discreet's recommendation is a good one John. A while back now, I finally got cheesed off enough to ditch IE, went with Google chrome. It was a good move
icastle
I'm afraid that even I sometimes forsake IE and use Firefox.

KiOgon
My young'n looks after the PC for me, a while back I was having problems watching any videos especially YouTube. We found chrome was using so much of the processor there was nothing left for the video. Ditched chrome & used Firefox instead, no trouble with anything. Now I have a new dual core processor & Windows 7 professional, thought I'd try ie11 too. Basschat is the only site I've found problems with using ie do now I have reinstalled chrome to use bc with & plan on sticking with ie for everything else. Cheers for the replies, John
petergales
I've hammered 7 bells out of my keyboard in sheer frustration thinking it was just me that had the problem! It's the messaging system that gives me the problem as hs pst as typd perfly.
petergales
Took the advice and started using Google as my browser for Basschat. As a result everything works as it should do now. Even got out of the habit of hammering the life out of the keyboard! Thanks guys
dannybuoy
It's quite simple to get the devs to add a tag to the page headers to request IE10 compatibility mode - I suggest you guys look into this. Until it gets sorted out, there is a workaround for IE. Open the compatibility view settings: Click add: Now the bug will be gone, but the page won't render correctly in all places since it defaults to IE7 mode: If you press F12 and scroll down on the left to choose the last icon at the bottom, you can set it to IE10 mode: However, this mode only remains set whilst you have the settings box open, close it and it'll go back to IE7 mode. I'm not sure how to get it to stick to IE10 mode without requesting Microsoft to add this site to their compatibility list, or getting the site altered. icastle
It's quite simple to get the devs to add a tag to the page headers to request IE10 compatibility mode - I suggest you guys look into this.
I looked into this a while ago but didn't pursue it very far. As soon as you start customising COTS packages you begin to complicate future upgrade paths because some code gets overwritten whilst some doesn't. That then potentially leaves you with a pile of poo to sort out, and whilst I've earned good money doing that over the years, I wouldn't like to see that pile of poo happen to BC. 'Off Topic' is bad enough. We appear to be getting close to upgrade time anyway, so hopefully we won't have these browser issues for much longer. Reference 'fixing' a document emulation mode, there is a registry setting for it, but AFAIK nobody has stumbled on the appropriate values as yet and Microsoft just aren't saying. bassace
Now I have posted this reply without any problems, but in other topics that I have tried to contribute to I've had the letters missing bother. To the extent that I'm not really interested in participating any more. Life's too short. It's only BC where I'm getting the problem. icastle
It's a previously well documented topic. The choices currently are: 1) Toggle your reply pane to 'basic' mode. 2) Install a browser other than IE. This problem is not isolated to BassChat, it impacts any site that uses the version of IP Board software we are currently using.

tauzero
Sorry, you may as well be talking in Swahili.
Toggle reply pane: When you start making a post, you do it in a bit of the screen marked "Reply to this topic". There's a couple of rows of icons at the top of this bit, under the words "Reply to topic". If you move the mouse cursor over these, a little description pops up telling you what they do. The top left one is "Toggle editing mode". If you click on that, you'll see what's in the bit you type in change in appearance. If all the icons except "Toggle editing mode" are grey and don't do anything, you're in basic editing mode, and the editing program shows the raw text of what you type in - for example, if you do a bit in italic, it would appear as italic in the standard editing mode and as italic in basic editing mode. Install another browser: Go to http://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox or http://www.google.com/chrome (or both), download and install. Then, instead of running Internet Explorer, run Firefox or Chrome.
