cclowend
I have never used fx but have just bought a used zoom b1 to use as a tuner/vol/delay. Can I get some guidance as to which (send or return) the pedals output goes into. Obviously the input goes in t'other hole. Ta.
barkin
I'd put it between bass & amp.
cclowend
I would but I know that when I find a crazy distortion sound I will want to use it.
chrismuzz
This is only personal preference, but I would put a distortion pedal before the Zoom if only using it for tuner and delay
uncle psychosis
I have never used fx but have just bought a used zoom b1 to use as a tuner/vol/delay. "Send" is typically always an output "Return" is typically always an input. If you want to put the pedal in the effects loop of your amp then connect the amp's send to the pedal's input and the pedal's output to the amp's return. If you want to put the pedal in front of your amp connect your bass to the pedal input and the pedal output to the instrument input on the amp. cclowend
My question is simple and your answer has solved my problem instantly. Thanks.
tauzero
You may encounter a problem using an effects pedal or multifx in a send/return loop, as the signal is somewhat higher than the output from a bass so it can overload the effect. cclowend
What's the point of having an effects loop if its not as good as putting the effects in line from bass to amp then?
simon1964
What's the point of having an effects loop if its not as good as putting the effects in line from bass to amp then?
Because the effects loop will generally be after the pre-amp and EQ section of your amplifier. There is a lot of debate about where certain effects should go, but arguably some effects sound better before the preamp section, and others after. Lots of articles about which effects should go where on line. Edited February 22, 2014 by simon1964
cclowend
I will only use it as vol/tuner/delay and possibly a little distortion. I think I will try it and see.
Some effects, mainly rack-mount units, are designed to be used at line level. Stompbox effects and multifx won't necessarily distort if used at line level but it is something to be aware of.
