Jimryan
Evening all, Now, those who have me on Facebook, will know I've experimented with my necks recently. My precision had a maple fretboard and my jazz has one of those Ebonol fretboards. About a month ago I swapped the necks over to see how they matched up. Anyway, this evening I put the maple fretboard neck back on the precision. The weight has gone back down, the action is once again ridiculously low and it feels much better. One thing has puzzled me though. All the time the maple boarded neck is on, the electronics buzz like mad, whereas when the ebonol board neck is on, the bass is silent. Now, I could understand this had I played with the electronics, but just the neck? Surely the neck wouldn't make any difference to the basses earth? alyctes
I guess the string angle is making a difference to whether the bridge is touching its earth wire. That's the only thing which makes sense to me.
