Jazzneck
Back in the winter of 1967 we got hold of an import of "Blues is King" which was played to death over the space of two weeks. In early January 68, round at a mates house after a few pints of Red Barrel, we were sitting watching the the white dot disappearing on the tele as transmission stopped at 11pm. My mates mum walked in and asked what we were doing. His immediate response was "Waiting for the BB King Show to start". It finally happened last night on BBC4 and there's me watching it with a cup of tea and biscuits. ..................strange that.

chris_b
It's on the recorder. I'll be watching it on Monday. I must have seen BB King at least 20 times throughout the 80's and 90's. Russell Jackson was a huge influence and the first person I saw with Bartolini pickups on his Pbass. I immediately ordered a set, which fixed the hole in my tone, and my sound has never looked back. Jazzneck
You lucky man, Chris. I've only got to see him once - RHA April 1969 when IMHO he was at his peak (with Fleetwood Mac supporting). An outstanding performance with, I think, Louis Satterfield on bass. Enjoy the film. flyfisher
You sat in front of that tv for 46 years ? I've been fortunate to see the great man a few times. Last time was quite a few years now and he had to sit for most of the performance, but there was nothing wrong with his playing and I see from his website that he's still gigging regularly.
