Clarky72 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Has anyone here done a sound recording course at all and have any they can recommend. I'm in full time employment so it's unfortunately not something I can dive into full time, but I am interested in a part time / evening / weekends course if anyone can recommend any good ones around? I live near High Wycombe in Bucks, so home counties and London are my target areas realistically. Thanks all as always Quote
originalfunkbrother Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Hi Clarky I am studying Music Technology at the University of West London. I too work full time so the Foundation degree may be ideal for you. Its 3 evenings a week 1900 - 2100 and in each semester, you will study a Recording Module. Its a 2 year course and if you pass that, you have the option to make it a BA by taking the 3rd Year. If you need more info, just drop me a PM. Many thanks Quote
Clarky72 Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 Thanks! That sounds great, I've just had a quick read through their website. What nights do you attend the uni? Quote
Bilbo Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I did that Audio Masterclass thing. I learned a lot and got a certificate. I do like a certificate. Quote

originalfunkbrother Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 It varies. In the first year, its Tuesday to Thursdsay then in Year 2 its Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in Semester 1 then Wednesday and Thursday in Semester 2. There are 2 classes on Thursday 1600 - 1800 and 1900 - 2100. Quote

RockfordStone Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 i did one at my local college in the evenings, some of them are great for beginners, but on the other hand in my case they served to prove that what i was doing was on the right track Quote
Mornats Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I'm very interested in something like this. I'm based in Bristol (so I'm thinking BIMM may help) but three nights a week is a bit much. What's the format of the Audio Master Class Bilbo? Worth the $217 do you reckon? I want to learn about recording vocals, bass, guitar, mixing it all together and being able to pop the results on iTunes at some point. Quote
Bilbo Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I didn't pay that much (about half) but I did learn a lot. Not sure if I would pay £200+. It Is modular and each module has assessed projects.I did enjoy it. Quote
lurksalot Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I too would love to do something like this , I have seen something listed from the Manchester Met Uni , with classes at Northwich , this could be right up my street as while I have learned soooooo much from you guys , I think the hands/ears on instruction might be quite insightful . tallmanmax Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 The step son graduated from Bucks New Uni last year with a Music Tech degree, I'm really surprised they aren't offering something that would suit your needs, right on the doorstep! Quote
