Jack
Hey folks. I'm very clumsy and I keep hitting my DOD 250 accidentally when going for my tuner. Because there's no led, the only way to tell if it's on is to play, not ideal at a gig. I'd like a light putting in so that I can tell when it's on the same as any other pedal. Can you recommend anyone to do this in the UK please? Just in case there are any problems violating the commercial user's policy: if you are able to do it for me, by all means please put your own name forward. Thanks, Jack
Sibob
I'd suggest leaving it as it is (they're kinda 'vintage' now), and buy a reissue to gig with (which has an LED) Si
tayste_2000
Yep agreed, the new one is build to original grey specs so sounds amazing (so I'm told)
elephantgrey
Or maybe a bypass pedal with an led?
dannybuoy
Or maybe a bypass pedal with an led?
Only problem with that, is if he's too clumsy to hit the right pedal, you're just adding another pedal to make things worse! tayste_2000
The main issue here is why are you turning off the 250 in the first place? Leave it on and sound better for it
Jack
Wow, here I has all set to take your advice, but the reissues are £90!! I'd considered putting it in a loop actually, but I am already really short of pedalboard space. Thanks for your help guys, I might just have to hold out for a used one. Sibob
I'd say £90 is pretty cheap for a new pedal?! lol Si
Jack
My original was £20 on eBay though! Hmmmm, this requires some thought and some used pedal hunting.
Sibob
Yeah you won't find them for that cheap anymore haha Si
pete.young
Martin Owen at Owen Electronics will probably be able to sort this for you and I would expect it to cost less than a second hand replica.
Plus whatever value you lose off it being an 'original unmodded' DOD. Of course this doesn't matter to some people, which is cool, just saying Si
pete.young
Looking at the bay, unmodded early ones are going for between 50 and 120 USD. One with a led added sold for 145 USD. So I am not convinced that it would lose money. I guess poodle probably has a kit which would be the cheapest of all?
Jack
Or, I could buy an MXR M89 from the for sale forum here. I pick it up tomorrow! Thanks folks, but if that dod is worth keeping original then that'swhat I'll do. :-)

paul_5
I was going to suggest cloning one. Something like this:

Jack
I know all pedals are the same, but the idea of charging £90 for a few pence worth of resistors and caps is crazy. You see those circuit diagrams and wonder why we bother don't you?

Decorate the enclosure to a degree that you'd be happy to purchase from a shop etc......... How much did it cost you in total? Si
Jack
Oh I know, I know. You're talking to someone who owns a b7k amongst others but it does seem like a lot still. No offence meant if you build them Sibob.
