lowdowner
Possibly a futile search but I want to take bass lessons again after a year or more since I've had lessons - I need to work a bit harder on improving both theory and practice after just noodling away for far too long. Anyone got any advice on tutors around here in Cheltenham - or even any tutors on here in the area or are OK to travel? <fingers crossed>
bubinga5
there a little thin on the ground around Gloucestershire, and never seem to be dedicated Electric Bass teachers, but sometimes thats can be a good thing, imo. i never did, or ever found someone. but i did take Piano lessons, and it helped my bass playing no end. anyway this is a good link. i hope you find your way. lowdowner
Thanks for the link - I know about the site but there isn't anyone on there that's bass-only (well, bass and upright etc.) I don't know about more 'generic' guitar teachers because I often feel that 6-stringers feel that a bass is a bit of an afterthought not a discipline in its own right. I will keep up the search, in the end I may have to travel
timmo
I go to a tutor in Gloucester. He is a classical guitarist first and foremost. He seems to think that the bass is a fine instrument, and thinks it is definatley a discipline in its own right. He won`t teach tabs, only music, and he teaches all the way to grade 8 RGT I don`t think he does upright though. stevetdunn
FYI Tutors that are registered with the Registry of Guitar Tutors (RGT) can be located via a postcode/name search from http://www.rgt.org/
