Absolute Beginner Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Hi all. Silly question time..... Does an Ibanez SR300 need a battery in order to use it ?! If so, which type does it take ? Many thanks. Quote
Musky Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 The SR300 has active electronics so it'll require a standard 9V battery. It'll be powered up by plugging in a jack, so be sure to unplug it when you're not using it. Quote
Absolute Beginner Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 Thanks Musky. Do you mean unplug the battery or the jack ?! Cheers. Quote
Silvia Bluejay Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Watch out for potential narrow battery housing and slightly bigger-than-standard 9V batteries - a combination that may give you trouble closing or screwing back the compartment cover and/or cause you to pull or twist some of the internal wires. Absolute Beginner Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 Thanks bluejay. Do you know if all Ibanez basses are "active" ? Cheers. Quote
Evil Undead Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I believe so, apart from some of the GSR series. Quote
bass boy Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 You can buy rechargeble batterys that are really worth it Quote
Woodinblack Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Virtually all SRs / ATKs and BTBs are - there are some other series that aren't such as the artcores and the new smaller ones. I had a iceman bass that wasn't (until I fixed that), and there are some older ones too. Quote

They lose their charge much quicker than standard Alkaline or Lithium ones. The pre-amp takes very little current anyway so as long as you buy decent batteries, they will last ages. 3 Quote

Agree with this - rechargables have lower voltages to start with and most active basses take no power. Generally speaking replacing a battery is more likely just because it is old than it has run out. In fact, on my old SR1000 prestige, the batteries seem to last longer than the pots.
