SiM Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 well, err.... Hi! My name is Simon, or just Si, I'm very new to double bass and EUB having recently switched from tenor sax. I have a Harley Benton EUB which I first got so I could play with earphones at unsocial hours without upsetting neighbours as my horn practice time was severely limited, got hooked and GAS dictated I needed a "real" one... after reading reviews from other members bought an Archer 3/4 DB from gear4music. I know both are beginners instruments but then so am I. I'm using gut-a-like synthetic gut strings on both. Don't know they cope with arco as I haven't tried yet. I need to unlearn my old violin habits in order to grasp how to hold the bow. I tried sticking it under my chin but it just wasn't happening. Musical styles are jazz, jazz and er, jazz, mostly swing and be-bop. So..TTFN Quote
