bonnp
i have just bought a mighty mite p bass maple neck without tuners. it previously has shaller tuners (in line) which seem to be a bit scarce to get hold of. What are my options? do i need to measure anything, what are the best uk sourced tuners please
Mr Anthony
I too am intersted in the answer to this as I have done exactly the same. However there were no previous tuners with mine.
gjones
The hole drilled for tuners in the Mighty Mite headstock are standard Fender size which is 17.5 to 18mm. So you need tuners with bushings/ferrules of that size. Wilkinson Manufacture decent cheap versions for about £20. Schaller and Gotoh do ones which are 3 times that price. But all of them will fit your neck.

Pete1967
I suppose there's a consideration around aesthetics too as in clover key or Y key.... modern v traditional looks etc, but if you're OK with a modern look without doubt the best value tuners are the Schaller BMLights. They're lightweight and about the best engineered you can get. Schaller make an OEM version for Fender which is fitted to some American Deluxe models (I think, I'm not a Fender expert!). They're not the most straightforward to fit since you need to drill some holes for the locating studs in exacly the right place, but there's a nifty trick to it that makes it easy once you know what it is! They will also cure any head heavy tendencies. Availble in the UK from Stentor http://www.touchstonetonewoods.co.uk/products/bass-115/schaller-bm-electric-bass-guitar-machine-head-lightweight-849.aspx and a steal at £47 a set. The other option would be Hipshot Ultralites 1/2", available from Bass Direct, but IMO they're not as well made at the Schallers and outrageously expensive (£120) for what they are. Lozz196
Think I`d look at the Schallers as above. Been thinking of doing the same on one of my basses, so this is now a serious consideration.
rubis
Are these any good to you? hamfist
I can thoroughly recommend the Wilkinson P/J tuners, which are also of high quality. The MM neck holes need tweaking wider just a smidge to fit them in, something like 0.5mm. Easily done, even with a bit of sandpaper and something round like a dowel or a pen (personally I use a Dremel .... which is my favourite time-saving tool).
