tayste_2000
They are releasing bias for OS X soon Additionally there is a new vintage pack of fx coming out for Jamup https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=798599476825051&id=245580448793626
Owen
is there an equivalent programme to Bias for OSX anyone could recommend? i've a macbook but no iPad and would like to experiment.
Mainstage is around for OSX. Probably not as tweakable. http://www.apple.com/uk/mainstage/
Owen
I have an active cab with DSP. I like it a lot. I could live without carrying it as it is from the olden days. Are there any decent compression/Parametric EQ/HPF settings in these programs? TIA

Musicman20
How does this live up to guitarists expectations of pedals and effects? I'm no effects junkie but as I'm currently playing more guitar, (and probably will be until a decent band turns up needing a bassist) I'm starting to invest in more guitar gear. I have some decent TC guitar pedals, a nice enough Orange rig, tuner, and a quality multi power supply (T Rex Chameleon). I am more tempted to stick with buying a few nice guitar pedals if I'm honest, (I'd like a nice drive pedal such as the Crowther Hot Cake or Fulltone Plimsoul) and maybe more delay (TC) and more than likely a compressor/boost (TC Spark) but that is about it. As I'm already half setup with cables, power, other pedals, etc, I'm probably going to stick to that route, but it would be cool to know what the iOS option is like for guitar. Prime_BASS
Lots more on there for any guitarists needs. Amps amps amps, and some more amps. I doubt you'd get any more out of it than your current gear, baring you don't mind taking all your gear everywhere. It definitely could replace everything but it's not social convention at gigs to turn up with no amp. TBF, to be fair I've stopped using mine outside of recording guitar and bass for song ideas, been too busy to tweak the options etc, and as I still end up taking my rig everywhere a lot of the more useful stuff you can't turn the amp sim side off. Ideally right now, if I could get a dual channeled input I could at least do some basic drum recording too, mans build up some tunes for the whole band to use to lay back to, refine etc.

timmyo
Great articles - I'm not surprised they want you on board - I picked up a Sonicport and Jamup on the strength of reading them - dabbling with it for the first time this weekend. Thanks for taking the time to do these.
Muzz
Gigging tonight again with my Jamup/iPad front end: versatile and easy. Giving thought to streamlining my setup by rack mounting as much as I can and using just a power amp and cab (or even a powered monitor for stage monitoring. Great articles which got me started down this road: thanks again... Edited July 12, 2014 by Muzz

woodyratm
Hey guys - looking for some advise for this... I want to use my ipad mini retina for live stuff. Ideally replacing my entire board possibly... Problem is that my band use backing tracks for prerecorded synth tracks. Normally we use this splitter thingy into the 3.5mm which takes click and synth tracks. So using the basic music app works for that - however I want to use the ipad too for my stuff. Can you run apps together nowadays? And to make matters EVEN harder, we have one song with a midi controlled whammy. Is there any method yet we could use the ipad to do this? Can do the guitar/synth stuff on a laptop but we really want to get away from using it. possibly asking for a miracle haha. If it could do the whammy and backing tracks that might be enough. woodyratm
Righty - further to the above, i've done some digging and looks like I need an app that can transmit Midi CC11 messages? Does such app exist? Also bought audiobus and the multi routing stuff to play with Edited July 16, 2014 by woodyratm

He could certainly minimise his but it's nice to have redundancy.
Can you run apps together nowadays? It's a physical whammy being controlled by the midi (apparenty cc11 is the channel it uses or something). Tbh we might just attempt to make the dubstep stuff in another way. It's a bit of a dark art this stuff haha

tayste_2000
You could maybe have ableton transmit midi over wifi as a midi clock while you use the ipad for yourself

sk8
Smallest setup I've ever used at a band practice. Very impressed with it.
