FinnDave
A week ago, I came home to find a stranger in my house helping my mother-in-law unpack her shopping. MiL mentioned that the woman was a singer, so we got to talking. Last night, she came to our rehearsal, and believe me, she can really sing! Turns out she fronted a touring and recording band in the 70s, still records now and then....and is gigging with us tomorrow! Here is a fairly rough recording made last night, her first run through, she really gets going at around two mins in! Interested to see if anyone has an idea of her identity. I recommend headphones for the full experience. FinnDave
Thanks, she certainly has some power in that voice, I was about a foot from her during that song. She is also a very friendly, down to earth and enthusiastic person to be around. I want to keep her name under wraps until after her appearance with us tomorrow, hopefully the first of many. JTUK
Did she ask to change the key of that track..... and would it be a problem for the band to do so..?

FinnDave
Close but no cigars as yet...we did change key on a couple of tracks, one of them three times...not a problem to do so. So looking forward to sharing a stage with her tomorrow.

KevB
If she wasn't still active I'd have guessed Connie Lush but I don't really think of her as a 70's artist particularly.

FinnDave
Maggie Philbin??
Interesting idea! She fronted an English band that did better in the US than over here.

Paul S
Just as well otherwise I would come over, kill you, hide the body and take your place.
FinnDave
Quite understandable, no one could blame you for that.
Paul S
I'd get off in court. Got a weakness for redheads. And Kiki Dee is, I think, one of our most under-valued singers. Karen Lawrence? Edited March 1, 2014 by Paul S

lojo
Maggie Bell ? Im just off to see if there are any great singers in the MILs kitchen , that has to be the coolest recruitment of a singer I've ever heard of
FinnDave
Maggie Bell was suggested earlier, right era and style, but my kitchen find is not Scottish!
